Some sad news….

Dear customers and friends,

It has been a very trying year for Organic Oven.

We pride ourselves on being a family-run business. The business exists as a joint venture between my mother, her husband, my husband and I. Unfortunately, this past year has brought us many personal trials that have directly impacted our business model.

Many of you know that my step-dad Dennis suffered a massive stroke in December. He passed away last weekend after an 8-month battle.

We will be holding a memorial for him this coming Sunday in Mississauga. If this is something that interests you, please send me a private message and I will provide you with the details. It has been tough and he will be sorely missed but we are also glad that he’s no longer suffering.

Throughout his battle, my mom Peachy (the founder of Organic Oven) has been by his side. She visited him everyday and did her best to take care of him.

Unfortunately, in May, she also became ill and is now taking time off to recuperate.

I know many of you are surprised when you call the Brampton bakery and do not hear my mother’s voice on the other end. After 11 years being the face of Organic Oven, it shocks many people when they don’t see her face when they visit, and when they don’t hear her voice when they call.

Please don’t worry. My mom is still around. She hasn’t sold the business. She is simply taking some much needed time off.

Because of all this, it is with deep regret that we must let you know we are postponing the re-opening of the Toronto cafe again. We know we’ve made promises that it would be open by September of this year and we honestly believed that would happen. We had secured a location and had everything ready for construction to begin. Unfortunately, we couldn’t have known in advance that the events of the past year would transpire.

Despite all the trials, I’m happy to report that Organic Oven is doing well. We’ve managed to expand and supply more customers including a catering company that supplies food for first-class airline travellers, more Whole Foods locations, as well as some small health stores in the GTA.

In the absence of our Toronto cafe, we will be expanding our delivery area to service more people who can’t conveniently travel to our Brampton location. As always, our doors are open to the public Mondays to Fridays. Freshly baked goods will continue to be available to order.

We hope you are all well and I am sorry to bring such heavy news but I know many of you have been wondering about what has been happening.

After being in business for over 11 years, many of you have become good friends and we thought it would only be fitting to let you all know what was going on.

Lots of love,
Precious (Peachy’s daughter) and family
